Make it easier and faster to scan orders and medications

Distribution centres are working faster and handling more customer orders and medications  than ever and full traceability is crucial.

Inbound

Distribution centres are working faster and handling more customer orders and medications  than ever. Managing  perishable medicines  in a cold chain is challenging. The cold and damp conditions can cause labels to wrinkle and get damaged, making barcodes harder to read. But it’s crucial to read these barcodes reliably for full traceability.

Many cold chain centres use traditional handheld laser barcode scanners. In cold storage environments, these scanners often need several tries to read a barcode and struggle with damaged codes or codes under shiny material. Additionally, workers must wear gloves to stay warm and avoid contamination, which makes using handheld scanners tricky. All these factors make working in a cold environment difficult and cause costly delays.

Switching to a fixed-mount barcode reader can make a worker’s job easier and faster. This type of reader is mounted in one place, and the worker shows the package’s barcode to the reader before putting the package in its shipping container, leading to faster processing, fewer steps, and less rework from unread barcodes.

Distribution centres often receive palleted goods and need to break down these pallets in order to store them correctly or use the items for Master Data capture. The static or In-flight SWADs can be used to capture master data and help store the information provided in the clients’ Warehouse Management System.

For lower volumes, the pallets are unpacked manually and can be scanned using a hands-free scanner,, which is a fixed barcode reader mounted in a fixed location, instead of a handheld scanner, which can become costly over time due to mishandling and replacements.

Our fixed-mount barcode readers work well even in freezing temperatures. They use High Dynamic Range (HDR) imaging, autofocus, and advanced decoding algorithms to read 99.9% of barcodes. They quickly flag bad or low-quality codes for fixing and ensure full tracking for cold chain management, making sureperishable products get moving faster.

Sorting

Packages of apparel, medications and other consumer goods arrive at regional distribution centres and must be taken off trucks, put on the right shelves in a temperature-controlled warehouse, and prepared for quick shipping to medical facilities or stores

Barcodes must be read quickly and reliably during the sorting process as packages are taken off the truck and grouped for storage in the warehouse. If a barcode has been damaged during shipping and can’t be read by a laser scanner, it has to be removed, manually identified, and re-processed.

DataMan fixed-mount barcode readers use images to accurately read codes on packages, making the sorting process more efficient. These top-quality barcode readers use High Dynamic Range (HDR) imaging, autofocus, and advanced decoding algorithms to read 99.9% of barcodes. Bad or low-quality codes are flagged right away for fixing. By using fixed barcode readers within an automated sorting environment, the items are always scanned on a conveyor, making traceability transparent at any point of the sortation.

DataMan fixed-mount barcode readers can read several codes simultaneously to ensure that received products meet all rules and requirements before being stored in the warehouse. These barcode readers cut down on the number of incoming products that are wrongly rejected or delayed because of barcode-related or human error-related problems. Codes can be accurately read, even if damaged, torn, or hidden.

Outbound

Distribution centres are always looking for faster ways to load and unload trucks. The quicker they can do this, the more they can get done. Often, packages are loaded into trucks one by one. To save time and money and protect products during transport, centres build pallets before shipping them out.

This process involves scanning each item before it goes on the pallet. Usually, handheld laser scanners are used. However, these can struggle to read damaged or smudged codes, so workers must take extra time to print a new label for the package. This adds to the cost and time of the process. Also, since a handheld scanner needs a free hand, picking up an item, scanning it, and then putting it on the pallet can be slow.

Overhead scanning solutions  offer a hands-free way to read codes quickly, efficiently, and accurately. With overhead scanning, workers can read and build pallets faster than handheld or ring scanners. This method also ensures the right items are shipped, improves inventory accuracy, avoids costly returns, and improves overall package tracking. Barcode readers make a distribution centre more efficient and lower costs by using advanced algorithms to decode even the hardest-to-read barcodes, achieving a 99.9% success rate.

We provide a highly customised pallet/ bulk measuring system that accurately scans, weighs and measures volumetric data of large irregular shapes such as pallet loads.

A single pallet or an entire area of pallets can be identified and accurately scanned and measured.

We partner and are certified by market leaders.
